Preparing and Using Lathes for Turning

This 3 day course is intended to take the user to a level of proficiency that will allow them to prepare and set manual lathes for turning operations. Delegates will also be able to manufacture components using manual lathes. This course is one of the units from the performing engineering operations qualification. This course is suitable for new users or experienced users who are looking for a formal qualification / upskilling to develop their skills in preparing and using lathes.

Description

By the end of the course the participants will:

  • Machine a variety of materials 
  • Machine tapers 
  • Machine internal and external threads 
  • Produce knurled finish 
  • Machine using 3-jaw and 4-jaw chucks 
  • Machine using a fixed or moving steady 
  • Setting machines using dial test indicators

Qualification gained:

On successful completion delegates will receive a Unit from EAL Level 2 qualification in preparing and using lathes for turning – unit 011.
