Gas Bottle Safety

This course aims to equip delegates with knowledge of high-pressure systems, teach proper manual handling techniques for gas bottles, and ensure understanding of safe storage practices.

Description

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an awareness of high pressure systems, gain the skill of manual handling gas bottles and also understand the safe storage of gas bottles. The course is aimed at all gas bottle stores persons. This course is also beneficial for all craft and process personnel who are required to move gas bottles.

By the end of the course the participants will know:

  • What is meant by high pressure 
  • The hazards/risks in handling gas bottles 
  • The correct way to store gas bottles in a compound 
  • The correct way to load pallets and secure bottles using straps
  • The correct way to carry palleted bottles on a fork lift truck 
  • The methods of moving single bottles both along the level and up/down ramps onto pallets 
  • How to safely and correctly pick a fallen gas bottle back up to the vertical position 
  • The personal protective equipment to be worn when handling gas bottles and why 
  • Checking condition of hoses
  • Inspection and use of flash back arrestor
