The aim of this course is to train and assess personnel in the safe operation of 3a and 3b boom and scissor lift Mobile Elevated Work Platforms. This course is suitable for personnel who are required to operate Powered Access Platforms.
At the end of this course the participants will be able to:
- Safely operate a 3a and 3b MEWP
- Describe and select the correct type of personnel protective equipment required for Powered Access Platform work.
- Detail the current Health & Safety legislation covering work upon Powered Access Platforms.
- State the specification and operation requirements of the specified Powered Access Platform including operator responsibilities.
- Demonstrate correct safe operation of the specified Powered Access Platform including the correct preuse safety checks, siting and positioning, ground conditions and point loading, overhead hazards and wind speed affects and emergency procedures.
- Undertake assessment for the specified Powered Access Platform that will allow the issuing of a PAL Card.
Qualification gained:
Upon successful completion learners will receive an IPAF digitised PAL Card. This replaces the need for paper and plastic documents and licenses with operators’ qualifications and experience easily recorded, stored and shared.
